Kevin and Abby tied the knot one beautiful August afternoon at Calabogie Peaks resort. The ceremony was held on the island with delicious appetizers and champagne to toast the couple served on the lawn, followed by dancing the night away in the Black Donald Room.
It was truly a family affair. The groom had built their wedding arch from birch-wood around the bride’s family property. The flowers were from her mother’s garden; expertly arranged by The Flower Factory in Renfrew.
It was the perfect finishing touch to this picturesque island.
The chiffon bridesmaid dresses were found, after much searching, at Simply Beautiful Bridal Boutique in Arnprior. The girls all fell in love with the same style. The dresses were also wallet-friendly coming in at the $200 mark. Not surprising that they all agreed on this dress– they all looked fantastic!
The Bouquets, boutonnières and corsages were all done by Christina at The Flower Factory. The bride loved her passion for floral arrangements! She worked from a Pinterest picture to give Abby the bridal bouquet of her dreams.
Abby found her dress, the dress, at Brides and Blooms. After many shops, it was the only dress that fit her vision. The only dress she could see herself walking down the isle in. I think her new husband would agree, she wore it well.
Grooms favourite moment of the day:
Waiting to lay his eyes on his Bride
My favourite moment of the day was walking back down the aisle with my new husband. Allowing myself to drink in a few moments of newly-wed excitement before the cascade of guests came off the island to congratulate us and share in our excitement.
Finding a suitable dessert for a bride who is gluten free and dairy free on her wedding day can be a challenge. Luckily the Cupcake Lounge in Westboro stepped up to the plate like a champ! They supplied Abby and Keving with really interesting cupcake flavours including maple cinnamon and butterscotch bourbon. With an assortment of large and mini cupcakes, everyone’s tastes were satisfied. The cupcakes were a huge hit!
Their advice for couples planning their own wedding:
Always do whatever works for you. It’s no one’s day but yours. We opted for a casual evening affair with champagne and appetizers and we think it was just lovely! ~ Abby & Kevin
